Campers & Parents

Are you or your child going to RYLA soon? Congratulations!

Campers must be able to arrive on time with their Rotary Club to their assigned session in order to participate in camp. No late arrivals or session swaps will be allowed.

A representative of the Rotary Club that selected you will provide transportation to and from camp. Check-in starts at 3pm on Friday, so you will need to work with your Rotary Coordinator and school counselor to arrange leaving school early that day. The camp concludes at 5pm Sunday. If, for any reason, you cannot make it to camp on time, please contact your Rotary Coordinator so that another student can be selected.

Campers must be able to arrive on time to their assigned session in order to participate in camp. No late arrivals or session swaps will be allowed.

Days are long and full of activity at RYLA. You will be participating in a number of physical and mental challenges with a team that you will get to know very well throughout the weekend. You will also hear from some top local leadership speakers. Your timely and active participation in all activities is required, though each physical challenge is done by your choice. Participants are expected to abide by the Boy Scouts of America Rules and Regulations and RYLA Full Value Contract.

Your sleeping accommodations will be in modern cabins with electricity, heating, and A/C. You will have a clean bed or cot, but you will need to bring a sleeping bag or twin bedding and pillow.

Three meals and snacks will be provided, buffet-style. Our menu is set prior to camp and will include some vegetarian options. However, we are unable to accommodate every diet. If you have special dietary restrictions due to allergies or a required diet, please provide that information to your Rotary Club Coordinator.

To ensure everyone stays safe and looks their best as the leaders they are, please dress comfortably and appropriately for outdoor activities.

We encourage wearing denim and cotton or cotton-blend fabrics, which are perfect for staying cool and active. For Sunday activities, please avoid nylon materials. Shorts should be an appropriate length—think athletic or casual styles that allow you to move easily. We also ask that tops have straps and provide full coverage to keep you comfortable and ready for action.

Footwear should be closed-toe and suitable for light athletic activities, like tennis shoes or hiking boots, so you’re prepared for whatever fun comes your way!

RYLA has a camp medic on staff at each session. The staff at Clements Scout Ranch is also experienced in handling the medical needs of its visitors. Each student’s physical safety is a top priority, and necessary medical assistance is readily available. All students will be covered by supplemental insurance provided by the Boy Scouts of America. Please fill out the health history form before arriving at camp.

We encourage campers to leave their cell phones in their cabins so they can be fully immersed in the experience of RYLA. If there is an emergency, and you need to contact your child, please call the director.
